The Dutch press points out that the forward is Koeman’s first addition and points out that the transfer could be made official at the end of this week at a cost of around 30 million euros.
FC Barcelona has closed with Olympique de Lyon the signing of striker Memphis Depay for 30 million euros plus two in variables, various Dutch media published this Tuesday.
The Catalan club “expects to officially confirm the agreement by the end of the week and present Depay at the Camp Nou,” announced the most widely read paid newspaper in the Netherlands, De Telegraaf, in a report replicated by almost the entire national press.
Barcelona would make the first payment of 25 million now and another of five million next summer, to which up to two more could be added in variables, according to the same information. It would be the first signing of the Koeman era, who knows the striker through his time as coach of the Netherlands.
A week ago, the footballer himself acknowledged that there was interest from both Barcelona and AS Roma to sign him.
The 26-year-old Depay joined the ranks of PSV Eindhoven, the team with which he won the Dutch Eredivisie and became the top scorer in the 2014/15 season. Later he went to Manchester United, where he spent a season and a half and did not meet expectations.
In January 2017, Olympique de Lyon left, a club with which he has a contract until summer 2021. He suffered a cruciate ligament tear at the end of last year and was injured for more than six months, but upon his return, he was a fundamental piece for the French team to reach the semi-final of the Champions League.
